“When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, “Because,†she said, ‘I drew him out of the wate’r” (Exodus 2:10). “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

A Lion Born with a Scepter
But like Judah, Jesus was willing to sacrifice his own life for his brothers and sisters. He willingly shed his blood on the accursed cross for the sins of his people. On his way to Calvary, he carried a tree, figuratively a “scepter†of sacrifice.

Notwithstanding images of a “super baby†at his birth, Jesus was like any other baby born in this world by a woman. We hear cute little children in Christmas pageants singing, “The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.†No, the baby Jesus did cry.
