The Fifth Petition: Forgive Us Our Debts
When we pray the fifth petition, we are asking God not to account our sins to us, but to account it to Christ. We are trusting in God’s assurance that our sins are forgiven, and our spiritual debt completely cancelled because of Christ’s atoning work on the cross for us.

Notwithstanding images of a â€œsuper babyâ€ at his birth, Jesus was like any other baby born in this world by a woman. We hear cute little children in Christmas pageants singing, â€œThe cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.â€ No, the baby Jesus did cry.
